Virtual Jane Austen
with Margaret H. Willison
August 20th - August 23rd, 2020
Join Margaret H. Willison on a virtual pilgrimage as we explore Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice together in a new way.
For 4 days, we will gather from 11AM-12PM EST and then again from 4-5PM EST. During this time we will do sacred reading practices, making our way through the novel, Pride & Prejudice.
During our time apart, Margaret will give you a writing assignment (or you can write whatever you'd like) and a question to walk with/meditate on as you walk around your own neighborhoods. Rain or shine; we ask that you walk for an hour.
This virtual pilgrimage will be offered to only 50 people. We will facilitate small group time between pilgrims to encourage connection, trust, and empathetic reading of both the story and each other.
These tumultuous times are offering us an explicit opportunity to explore our own values and lives and this class will help give you community to discern what comes next.
Please email commonground@notsorryproductions.com with any questions about the course.
MARGARET H. WILLISON
Margaret is a writer, librarian, podcaster, and self-titled social media bon vivant. She is one half of the Two Bossy Dames newsletter, one third of the Appointment Television podcast, and a regular fourth chair on NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour podcast. She is completely unsure who she would be had she not been introduced to Jane Austen at a formative age, and has considered extensively which of Austen's heroines would most benefit from therapeutic invention (Fanny Price, closely followed by Elinor Dashwood).

Testimonials:
Unlike most vacations in which we want to turn off our brains, this time spent reading and walking invited us to turn on our brains in a different way. I was able to open my heart and mind to living in community for several days that was delicious, both spicy and sweet. The experience enabled us to physically live in the footsteps of a life-long beloved fictional character while engaging in inspired discussions about love, life, choices, self-awareness, and empathy in a breath-taking landscape, continually surrounded by the beauty of literature, architecture, nature and each other.

Refund Policy:
Read our coronavirus policies here. These trips involve a lot of planning, logistics, and up front costs. Because of this, we cannot guarantee refunds in event of a cancellation due to a personal conflict, injury, or other reason for withdrawing from the pilgrimage. Please be sure you can attend the event before booking. If an unforeseen circumstance does occur, we will do our best to find a replacement for you. If we are able to get someone to take your place, we will refund your full payment minus a service charge (usually 7.5% of the deposit depending on the credit card processing fee). For cancellations within six weeks of the beginning of the trip, we are not able to find replacements. If you can find a replacement independently, we are happy to transfer your registration to them after receiving the new participant's payment and refund your purchase minus a 15% service charge. We strongly urge you to purchase travel insurance in the event of a personal conflict, health issue, or unexpected circumstance.
